OUR WORK

Women Justice
Institute for Peace And Transitions (IPT) looks at Women’s justice from not only addressing the immediate harms of gender‑based violence, but also about dismantling the systemic inequalities that perpetuate it. True justice requires survivor‑centered frameworks that prioritize dignity, healing, and accountability, while ensuring women’s voices shape policy and practice at every level. By integrating feminist leadership into governance and community structures, we create pathways for women to access protection, redress, and equal opportunity. This approach transforms justice from a reactive mechanism into a proactive force for equity, resilience, and peace.

Women Mentorship
At IPT, we believe that women’s leadership is the cornerstone of sustainable peace and inclusive governance. Our mentorship program connects young women with seasoned feminist leaders, creating a safe and empowering space to nurture confidence, sharpen skills, and amplify voices. Through one‑on‑one guidance, peer learning circles, and exposure to regional networks, mentees gain the tools to navigate complex challenges in climate justice, governance, and community resilience. By centering survivor‑focused frameworks and participatory approaches, IPT ensures that every woman we mentor is not only prepared to lead but also equipped to transform systems with dignity, courage, and vision.

IPT advance community‑led police reforms that strengthen trust, accountability, and collaboration between citizens and security actors across our target counties, with a deliberate emphasis on women’s safety, dignity, and leadership. Our work is grounded in evidence, partnership, and adaptive learning, ensuring that policing systems are responsive, rights‑based, and aligned with the lived realities of women and marginalized groups.

Through women‑focused community‑led police reform initiatives, we have strengthened coordination between women, communities, and security actors; enhanced accountability mechanisms; reduced tensions through structured dialogue; and built resilience against violence and extremism. Our commitment is to a security system that is community‑driven, inclusive, gender‑responsive, politically informed, and adaptive—one that protects rights, prevents violence, and contributes to long‑term peace and stability in Kenya.
